JHSMovieSheets 0.9.5.2

Download JHSMovieSheets 0.9.5.2.

Using Rotten Tomatoes Score Command: r 50 83
* Support for Rotten Tomatoes and Flixster scores using the Comments Box. An icon will show up corresponding to the level of the Rotten Tomatoes tomatometer and the Flixster audience score.  If a value of -1 is used for an individual value, no icon appears for that specific piece.

This functionality presents a different icon based on some simple rules which aligns with the icon presented by the Rotten Tomato site for the appropriate value.

Tomatometer Scores:
0 - 59 = Rotten Tomato Splat Icon
60 - 74 = Fresh Tomato Icon
75 - 100 = Certified Fresh Icon

Flixster Scores:
0 - 59 = Spilled Popcorn Icon
60 - 100 = Upright Popcorn Icon

Valid Rotten Tomatoes Comments Box inputs for Movie Sheets:
r -1 -1
r 99 100
Episode Sheet using Rotten Tomatoes
Score Command: r 100 -1 97 95
r 64 98

Additionally added for 0.9.5.2, is support for Episode and Season sheets.  Command syntax is similar, but a little different. The episode value pair come first, followed by the season value pair. The former syntax will still work, though no values will be displayed for the season sheet.

Valid Rotten Tomatoes Comments Box inputs for Episode and Season Sheets:
r 100 -1 100 -1
Season Sheet using Rotten Tomatoes
Score Command: r 100 -1 97 95
r 73 80 -1 -1
r 99 96 97 95
[Season Sheet Values Only]
r -1 -1 70 80
[Episode Sheet Values Only]
r 100 100

* Expanded options for Studio icons including: Wildgraze Films, Gran Via Productions, SyFy, Broad Green Pictures, Broadgreen Pictures, National Geographic, Black Bear Pictures, Washington Square Films, Entertainment One, Madhouse, and Netflix.

* Reverse-order Icon Search: When choosing studios from the list, the icon choosing code starts with the last studio and works towards the front. This will result in the smallest studio's icon getting chosen over the larger ones.

* Other miscellaneous goodies.

I think at this point, this is mostly for my own benefit of storing these templates online so I can get to them.  But if you also still use Thumbgen and happen upon these, I hope you find them useful. Enjoy!

JHSMovieSheets 0.9.5.1

Download JHSMovieSheets 0.9.5.1.

Since the initial write of these movie sheets, the US Certifications have never been quite right.  While I've kept the TV certs in place, (TV-G, TV-14, etc) I have replaced the old certification graphics which I think were erroneously labeled UK certifications with the correct US ones.

As always, enjoy!

JHSMovieSheets 0.9.5

Download JHSMovieSheets 0.9.5.

I added a universal translation code for 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios.  An input of either of these two values will result in the display of 1.78:1 and 1.33:1 respectively.  Since these are the aspect ratios I find myself having to manually change most frequently, that's what we'll start with. If you have other mappings you would like to see implemented, please let me know!

I've toyed around with the idea of doing some calculation such that whatever ratio that is passed in is always simplified ratio of  R:1.  This change will be saved for a future release.

Happy New Year, and thanks for finding my blog.

JHSMovieSheets 0.9.4.1

Download JHSMovieSheets 0.9.4.1.

Hey folks!

It's been a long time since I have made a post here, but I finally got around to fixing a rather annoying bug with the JHS Season Sheets that has been around forever.  This particular bug would show the "Disc" box, instead of the "Season" box when the only input was the standard season input box provided by ThumbGen.

I can't imagine there are too many people out there still using this solution, but just in case, hope you enjoy it.

WDTV Live File and Folder Hiding

WDTV Live Plus Playlists and Associated Tricks

I have searched on the topic of hiding files at length before and did not found anything on it, so it is important to do a write up on what I found.

After you finish reading this, using your will be able WDTV Live Plus, (probably other WDTV Devices as well) you will be able to hide files and folders. I have mine set up using the WDLXTV firmware with my NAS, which contains all of my media, remotely mounted as a local drive using the XMOUNT command. All of my media is accessed through Video -> Local Drives.

Hiding Folders

This trick will allow you to have folders in a structure that will not show up when browsing the parent directory that your hidden folders live in, from the WDTV Live browsing interface.  We ALL have those folders containing... questionable... media that we don't want to put out there in plain sight for others' casual viewing.  I discovered a while back that if you append a period to the front of the target folder's name, the WDTV Live will not display it at all, but you can still keep it organized in the same folder structure as the rest of your media folders.

The Windows UI will not let you add a period to the front of a file name, so I had to get creative here.  Open a command line, and CD to the appropriate parent folder and use the Windows REN command on the folder we want to hide.

Windows REN command

Now the folder will not be displayed through the WD TV Live video folder listings.  "How does it help if I can't get to it?", you ask.  Well you can get to it!  First you create a normal subfolder inside of your hidden folder. We will call it "Foo". Inside of Foo is where your media files will live. Create a new playlist, (For NAS devices, relative addressing works a little better than absolute addressing) and add the folder Foo to it.  Put your playlist in some inconspicuous place, such a sorting directory under a sorting name that only you will know its true purpose.  For Example, you have a normal folder called -Sorting- in your main media folder, which has underneath it multiple playlist files pointing to all of your media files sorted alphabetically.  Under the 'X.m3u' playlist, you could add a pointer to your Foo file, and be able to get to Foo from there.

Hiding Files

One problem I ran into while incorporating playlists into my setup was that the WDTV would show folders containing exclusively playlist files one time after startup, but if you backed out to the main menu and then tried to view the playlist folder again, it wouldn't be displayed.  This drove me crazy for a long time.  I found that if you had a file with a video extension present in the folder, this behavior would not occur.

However, this was an annoying solution because at the end of your playlists, you had some random "z.m2ts" file that didn't do anything, but was displayed anyway. I discovered last night, that if you change the filename to "..m2ts", you get the benefit of both of these tricks.  Your playlist folders will not be hidden if you back out to the main menu and then reopen the media folder (because you DO still have a file with a video file extension present, so the parent folder will still be displayed), AND the file itself isn't displayed in the WDTV Live interface with the rest of your playlists.

After I made this realization last night, I had a face-palm moment because it had taken me two years to figure out this trick.

I hope this helps some of you folks who might be searching for ways to do similar things. Thanks for visiting!

Version 0.9.4

Download JHSMovieSheets 0.9.4.

Well crap. New version is out, but I accidentally just deleted everything in my versioning draft entry in blogspot and unable to recover the notes on what I had changed.  I am kind of upset about it.

Since I don't have a comprehensive list anymore, I will hit the major points:
* Alternate Mappings: If some fields contain empty values, the field will be replaced by another field and it's value.  If neither have values, the primary field is displayed with "n/a" next to it.
* Automated Aspect Ratio pulling from IMDB for videos that are of type, DVD. [Will be trying to implement this for Blu-rays from Blu-ray.com in the next release.]
* Some other minor bug fixes.
* Force Subtitles: use token "forcesubtitles" (or just 'f') in the comments box, followed by the country's name that you want displayed as the subtitle nationality. So if you wanted to force French subtitles you would use "f France"

Sorry about the wait, and I hope you guys enjoy.

0.9.4 Status

Hey Everyone:

I wanted to put out another post to say that I am still here and working.  I am currently waiting for Thumbgen to release a new version with a specific new Token.  Once this is released, I will be able to efficiently automate the blu-ray user scores and also automate getting the actual Aspect Ratio (Will use the decimal ratio1.78:1 instead of the fractional16:9 that thumbgen pulls up automatically in the MediaInfo, for example.) from Blu-ray.com and IMDB, depending on the media type.  I don't have a way to implement it quite yet because I am waiting on that Token from Thumbgen, but I am making the assumption this will only be able to happen when you have Blu-ray.com is used as a collector.  I will go into it more once I have it coded.

I am really excited about this release and am looking forward to providing you guys with a new version.  Bare with me, and I will get it out as soon as I can!
